Woodford hints he could buy UK banking shares as sector is ‘more investable’

Neil Woodford has given optimism that he could buy UK banking shares once again, a sector which he has generally avoided since the financial crisis. Woodford claimed that the sector is ‘more investable’ than it has been for quite some time:

Speaking at an event marking the launch of his new Income Focus fund, Woodford said banks looked ‘more investable than they have been for a long time’.Pointing to the recovery at Lloyds, which this week unveiled a big dividend increase and a 10-year profits high, the Citywire A-rated fund manager said banks had now ‘broadly repaired’ themselves since the 2008 financial crisis.

However, Woodford stopped short of confirming whether he would invest in the sector.
